As students consider issues of fairness, bias, discrimination and justice, poetry is a chance for them to articulate their feelings and share them with others. This lesson provides an opportunity for middle school students to explore poetry and song about injustice, reflect on what social justice issues are important to them and write their own poems about social justice, using a variety of formats and finding creative ways to share their poetry with others as well as creating an illustration that can establish a connection to the meaning they decide to portray.

Lesson Plan #2: Insecurities and Media Exploitations

After reading the article Media Manipulator: How Social Media Companies Are Creating and Exploiting Teenagers' Insecurities
by Enoch KM and Williams RC, it is imperative to talk about this subject, as teenagers are subject to viewing others’ opinions of them at all times. Even in a zoom call, students are constantly seeing their own faces and grow insecurities they wouldn’t have cared about otherwise.
