HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

Creative and
Visual Learning
Designed to convey the stages of human growth in depth, this course approaches physical, psychological, emotional and social development in a format for teachers to implement in planning developmentally and culturally appropriate instruction. The educational needs of neurodiverse and special needs children, and the resources available to teachers for best meeting these needs, are included throughout. Related topics covered in this course include nurturing creativity in K-12 students, teaching students with poverty in mind, and fostering equitable visual learning in diverse settings. Pre-service visual arts teachers consider the implications of the above material in field experiences in diverse instructional settings with children.

REFLECTION JOURNALS

PROCESS

Visual note-taking is extremely challenging to someone who does not usually combine their note-taking skills with their art normally. To create art that coincides with the information placed on the page and the details learned, you truly have to understand the content. It takes a great deal of letting go and just trusting your knowledge on the subject and how well you can emulate that visually for someone else to understand it as well, or even for you yourself to understand it after years from now.

LEARNING THEORIST INFOGRAPHIC

LEV VYGOTSKY

My infographic was based on Lev Vygotsky (1896-1934), a learning theorist of the Constructivism methods. He's from Belarus and discovered so much, but unfortunately his findings fell short and were unfinished due to his very early death only 10 years into his research.
